Scholarships

The UOG Endowment Foundation is proud to provide over $15,000 a year in student scholarships for various programs. The following is a list of scholarships that are available for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Students are encouraged to read the scholarship requirements carefully before applying to ensure their application is accurate and complete. Please check back occasionally, as some scholarships become available at various times throughout the year, and all may not be shown on this list at the current time.

Students must fill out the downloadable PDF form above or email our offices for a copy at info@uogendowment.org, and submit it along with a copy of their transcripts and any supplemental materials required by the scholarship guidelines, to the UOG Endowment Foundation offices by the application deadline. Supplemental materials may include letters of recommendations, essay, or any other component listed in the description. Students are welcome to contact the UOG Endowment Foundation if they have any questions about scholarship eligibility requirements or application requirements.

Scholarship Name: Dr. James Marsh Scholarship

Award Amount: $500 

Eligibility Requirements: Applicant must be a graduate student enrolled in a thesis program at UOG getting  their MS in Biology or MS in Environmental Science. Must have a minimum GPA  of 3.0.

Scholarship Name: Fred Horecky Scholarship

Award Amount:  $500 

Eligibility Requirements: Must be a graduate student at SBPA, must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 at time of application and must maintain a 2.8 for the academic year. Must demonstrate financial need.

Scholarship Name: James & Young Hee Ji Scholarship

Award Amount: $5,000 

Eligibility Requirements: Student must be a resident of Guam with at least a 2.5 GPA

Scholarship Name: James Ji Dreamer Scholarship

Award Amount: $5,000 (to be paid in increments of $2,500 per semester)

Eligibility Requirements: Applicant must be certified DACA, have a cumulative GPA of 3.5, maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout duration of award cycle, and submit an essay with their application.

Scholarship Name: Dr. Karri Perez Entrepreneurial Scholarship

Award Amount: $1,000

Eligibility Requirements: Applicant must have a GPA of 2.5, and show a demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship. Application package should include an essay or business plan. Preference will be given to SBPA students, but any student with an interest in entrepreneurship is eligible to apply.

Scholarship Name: Margarita Duenas Perez Scholarship Fund (IT&E Overseas)

Award Amount: $1,000 ($500 per semester)

Eligibility Requirements: Applicant must be an employee of IT&E Overseas or its subsidiaries of IT&E Overseas, or a child of such an employee (If no applicant meets this criteria, then the scholarship may be awarded to someone who only meets the other requirements). Must be enrolled full-time as either an undergraduate or graduate student, and must have (and maintain) a 3.2 GPA.

Scholarship Name: Akira Baba Scholarship

Award Amount: $750

Eligibility Requirements: Must be a UOG undergraduate or graduate student, and a resident of Guam, Freely Associated States, or CNMI, have a 3.0 GPA. Must show evidence of school, civic, and community involvement. Preference will be given to student in tourism & hospitality or marine biology.

Application packet must include: Two (2) letters of recommendation- 1 from a teacher and 1 from a community member (non-family); and an essay addressing the following prompts:

1) What is your chosen field of study and why?

2)Tell us about activities you are involved in at your school and community(i.e. clubs, organizations, etc). Describe your involvement.

3) Briefly describe any honors you have received that you would like the scholarship committee to consider when reviewing your application

4) Briefly explain your career objectives and how you can contribute back to the island of Guam.

5) Briefly describe any financial circumstances that you would like the committee to consider when reviewing this application
